dpb Piping and Drumming Workshop

Join us for a Piping and Drumming workshop at the DC Highland Arts Festival.

The workshop will go from 9am to 4pm with a LIVE concert to follow that evening.

Workshop registration fee is $75 dollars and will be located at the Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria.

There will be event t-shirts for sale priced at $20.

Workshop students will receive additional information for class selection within a few days of purchasing registration.

9:15am-10:30am SESSION ONE

*Snare Technique and Fundamentals: Refine your technique to a grade 1 standard! -- With Ben Elkins

*Today’s Mid-section: A look at the musical role bass and tenor sections play in modern pipe band sound -- With Eric MacNeill

10:45am-12:00pm SESSION TWO

*How to practice efficiently and improve within your busy life schedule! -- With Will Dillahey, Ryan Myett

*DPB Tone: Learn how to get your bagpipe sounding at the grade 1 standard -- With Mike Dear and Haley Mesick

*Drum Corps education: Running an effective rehearsal to keep players engaged and improving -- With Mike Schoppe and Tim Marchand

*Essential rudiments for the modern mid-section: -- With Christina Hanks

1pm-2:15pm SESSION THREE

*MSR Fundamentals: Take your piping performance up a notch by improving your understanding and presentation of these critical elements for the pipe band MSR -- With Jim Dillahey and Heather Scott-Wisehart

*Rolls and other rudiments: Explore technique adjustments and phrases to practice to take your roll sound and execution to the top level -- With Scott Fletcher
